Haley Scher

Haley Scher, MA

Hi, I’m Hale! Or Haley if you’re feeling fancy.

I’m a marriage and family therapist, but don’t let the words “marriage” and “family” confuse you. I work with individuals of all ages, families, parents, couples, and groups.

I specialize in couples, families, teenagers, children, and young adults with anxiety and depression. I’m LGBTQIA+ affirming and work with people from all cultural backgrounds. I love working with families who can’t seem to understand each other or can’t stop fighting. As a 2nd generation immigrant myself, I work a lot with generational differences in multicultural families.

If you’re new to therapy, welcome! It can be a deeply challenging and rewarding process, but we’ll be in it together. Therapy is a relationship between a client and a therapist, not a one-way street. I’ll be my genuine, imperfect self, and you be yours.

I bring humor and authenticity to my sessions, and I take an eclectic approach. That means I draw from multiple theories of psychotherapy, including existential, humanistic, CBT, ACT, mindfulness, feminism, Gestalt, and many more depending on who you are, what you need, and what you find the most helpful.

I have experience working with clients who have struggled with the following:

  • Depression

  • Generalized Anxiety

  • Social Anxiety

  • Trauma

  • Sexual Abuse

  • ADHD

  • ASD

  • OCD

  • Specific Phobias

  • Gender Transitions

  • Grief

  • And other vague, unshakable funks

If you see yourself in that list of fancy names, great. If not, great. You don’t need a diagnosis in order for your pain to be valid and worth addressing. Together, we’ll build insight, process what’s hurting you, and take steps towards healing and actually enjoying your life.
